Philodendron pink princess
This philodendron has amazing colour. From black to deep burgundy and its foliage is splashed and flecked with white and pink.
The stock we have are still quite young but are looking promising. Fingers crossed for that fantastic pink leaf to pop put when it gets a little bit older
12 x12 x12.5 cms.
Bright indirect sunlight. While it’s normal for older leaves to yellow, if this happens to several leaves at the same time, the plant may be getting too much light. On the other hand, if the stems are long and leggy with several inches between leaves, the plant probably isn’t getting enough light
Water weekly in summer and then less during the colder months. Test the soil with a finger before you water: at least the top inch should be dry. Droopy leaves can mean that the plant is getting too much or not enough water. But the leaves recover quickly when you correct the watering schedule
Likes medium to high humidity, misting every few days can do the trick.
Provide good light for maximum coloration. Therefore place it in bright indirect light indoors or a shady location outdoors. The variegation can be greater if the plant is cut or prevented from reverting to just dark leaves. Solid pink leaves are a goal to many who grow this plant. It is not commonly seen on all plants. In addition, it must be mature enough to show beautiful variegation.
Remember if the plant gets too much light, the leaves will begin to turn yellow.
FERTILISER, PLANT FOOD, SOIL CONDITIONER
Fertilise monthly in spring and summer to encourage growth and NONE in winter. In the colder months, this plant generally hibernates. Therefore, feeding with fertiliser won’t make it do much.
We use Munash organics with our plants and kokedamas as their products are gentle to the plants, plus they are ORGANIC! With the plant food, every 2 months is all you need to do.
Soil conditioners such as Seasol, is also good to use during the growth season. Therefore, using it fortnightly when you water the plant is also good.
These care instructions serve as a guide only. The conditions in every home is different such as light, humidity, draft, heat, etc. and you know your home better than anyone else. These all affect the health and condition of your plants. We advise that you do a little bit of research about it prior to purchasing them.
