The foliage in this fern is truly Australiana!!! It quite resembles a crocodile’s skin!! Except that this one is quite softer, nice and shiny too!
It is also sometimes known as alligator fern, a crocodylus fern or a crocodile plant, and is a fern native to Australia with a slightly unusual texture.
12 x 12 x 12.5 cms
Bright indirect to low light
Water every 2 weeks in the warmer months (in summer check weekly especially in warmer days and may need watering weekly) and about 2 – 3 weeks in winter. Also, spraying every few days would increase the humidity around it.
Also when you water your plant, do not water directly onto the centre of the fern, instead just on its side. If you water directly onto the plant this can encourage water to sit in the centre of the plant and can promote rot.
FERTILISER, PLANT FOOD, SOIL CONDITIONER
Fertilise monthly in spring and summer to encourage growth and NONE in winter. In the colder months, this plant generally hibernates. Therefore, feeding with fertiliser won’t make it do much.
We use Munash organics with our plants and kokedamas as their products are gentle to the plants, plus they are ORGANIC! With the plant food, every 2 months is all you need to do.
Soil conditioners such as Seasol, is also good to use during the growth season. Therefore, using it fortnightly when you water the plant is also good.
These care instructions serve as a guide only. The conditions in every home is different such as light, humidity, draft, heat, etc. and you know your home better than anyone else. These all affect the health and condition of your plants. We advise that you do a little bit of research about it prior to purchasing them.
*There is nothing like getting to know you plant.
